The Board of Deacons, consisting of dedicated male and female members, assists the pastor in carrying out the religious services of the church. The Deacon Ministry serves communion to the congregation and provides communion to sick and shut-in members on the first Sunday of the month. In addition, deacons often take pulpit flowers and DVD’s of the sermon and worship service to the sick and shut-in members. The Deacons Family Ministry is a communications network established by the Board to enable the church leadership to keep in close contact with the general membership of the church. In this network, each family of the church is assigned to a specific deacon. The role of the deacon is to establish and maintain personal contact with the assigned family by telephone, home visitations, letters, cards, and through church worship and fellowship. The result is to maintain a spirit of Christian family relationships among the general membership and to assist with the spiritual and other concerns of each family. Roderick Fluker, Chairman
